Utility to customize windows explorer?

greets,

i'm looking way customize windows explorer.  want able tell if i'm browsing local drive or if network drive without having read address bar. i'd w.explorer change background color, or other kind of change, when browse drives on network. there utility allow me add such dynamic feature?
