Thread: Wireless signal strength issue.
i own gateway nv5214u notebook, , have been using ubuntu 9.4, installed using wubi installer, 3 weeks. os , make possible. updated ubuntu 9.10 yesterday, liked more. noticed though, when run ubuntu wireless signal is, half if not more, weaker. hoping because wasn't running full install today wiped hard drive clean , installed 9.10 os. unfortunately, problem still remains. understand ubuntu not windows, problem holding me giving windows finger , learning make change , discover new way compute.
so, looked , looked 2 weeks. reading google search after search looking answer problem in spare time. can't seem find or figure out how better signal router. hoping possible
here spec's.
os - ubuntu 9.10 64 bit full install
processor - amd athlon™ 64 x2 ql-64 dual-core processor (2.1ghz, 667mhz fsb, 1mb l2 cache)
wireless - atheros wireless 802.11a/g/n
d-link wbr 2310 wireless router
other wireless issue, please , amazed @ how ubuntu installed , seems work hardware out real effort or tweaking. hope missed or overlooked , can resolved.
right signal strength of between 20% , 60%. , changes between constantly. when first run computer , loads, signal of 90% - 100%, loses there , remains weak.

can sit next commercial wi-fi broadcast unit (as in on same desk) , 3 out of 5 bars .... long @ shows connected, you're okay
