Displaying Multiple Categories on Front Page (i.e Recent News, Recent Events) - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi,

i want display recent news items , upcoming events on homepage of website (http://foundry.olin.edu).  currently, using mod_contentitem module fetch , display recent items each category.  using 2 copies of mod_contentitem module (one news, 1 events) can graphically separate 2 categories distinct sections on front page.

unfortunately, when click "read more" displays full content item in mainbody section of page placed on modules.  since itemid stays same, 2 modules (which set display on home page) not disappear.

instead, intro paragraphs link individual news items when "read more" link clicked, , have item listings disappear when link clicked.

the solutions have found reach goal either create duplicate content items publish homepage, or create menu item list news article in blog format.  first method not dynamic , not fetch recent items.  second method of listing items blog format not allow me graphically separate 2 categories.  in addition, category listing in blog format repeats category title each entry.

any or suggestions appreciated. ;d
