Problems with using host.local. - Raspberry Pi Forums

not sure if has been going on since started using jessie, have problems using ping host.local , ssh pi@host.local host name of machine. seems work while , looses information ip address host.local , stops working.

comes not 100% consistent

something strange going on.

seems okay machines on ethernet.

when fails ping pi-three.local gives
ping unknown host pi-three.local

if ping ip address ping 192.168.1.17 ping works

if ping pi-three.local get
family@desktop:~$ ping pi-three.local
ping pi-three.local (192.168.1.17) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes unknown (192.168.1.17): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=7.35 ms

note unknown
ssh'ed in if run hostname pi-three
