hi all,

opening topic discuss , follow home automation project using openhab running off decentralized raspberry pi network.

end solution have 1 room in house connected devices , sensors, , voice activated assistant able tailor support , manage sensors. full list of features be:
  • - touch screen running openhab gui, mike , speaker intercom.
    - 9 microphones embedded walls (3 along 3 sides of walls - 4th wall has french doors, may put duffle microphones outside well)
    - 4 speakers, 1 along each side of wall (they strips not corner speakers)
    - z-wave light dimmers (3 channels, main lights, central chandelier, , 0-10v wrbg led strips
    - blutooth sensor track when known devices enter room
    - 2 10m range motion sensors track when unknown people enter room.
    - ambient temperature, humidity etc sensor (one in , 1 outside)
    - z-wave locks , door sensors
accomplish this, have (so far) listed following hardware:
  • - 1 raspberry pi running openhab web service
    - 1 raspberry pi usb sound card, speaker, microphone, , official touch screen gui , intercom
    - 1 raspberry pi sound card module receiving microphone input (will put through 1 channel, since alternative involves more inputs available, neater solution). reason has dedicated pi leave room running audio processing before passes next pi if needed.
    - 1 raspberry pi sound card running voice recognition software , outputting speakers

    - 9 microphones (no idea ones suitable). need powered, preferably taking 5v can run cables usb hub.
    - 4 speakers. unsure of setup yet. run them through amp, pi outputs to. ideas here awesome, taking account scalability when renovate other rooms crucial.
    - z-wave appliances, w/ 2 z-wave wireless usbs embedded in walls (linking openhab pi)
pis networked cat cables. due fact of pis might have usb devices in use, may use network hub , link them through instead of daisy chaining them usb network adapter. know if makes difference??

pis arrive day now, experiment installing openhab, networking them, , getting gui display , running.

i'm starting similar project. have pi touchscreen, , trying improve sound quality, connect creative sound blaster play! 2 microphone, one: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/b00pzmp ... gw_p_img_8

after, asr engine, use julius passive engine, , once keyword detected, use google or other online engine accurate results.

give info improvements.
