Which SDK to use when interacting w/ a PDF without viewing it

hi,

i'm looking create application able interact pdf, have no need view pdf.

the sort of stuff i'm looking be: open pdf file, number of pages, text of bookmarks, able text page n, etc.

i'm having trouble finding best sdk or library use kind of job. can tell, acrobat sdk intended use viewer. of samples seem either creating customizations of/withing viewer, or interacting viewer control application.

if want manipulate pdf, don't need view file, sdk should using?

the acrobat sdk entirely automating acrobat, in sense
it use view. acrobat must run. quite
possible process, in open acrobat, file never
displayed on screen. plug-in has power things (except
print , manipulate forms) non-displayed pdf, can't use
the javascript api in way. iac (ole) api can used way
with pddoc methods.

is use on server?
