hi,
i'm intending migrate linux ubuntu windows xp service pack 3.
here system details:

processor:
pentium (r) 4 cpu 1.70 ghz
(acpi\genuineintel_-_x86_family_15_model_1\_0

512 mb of ram

network adapter:
intel(r) pro/1000 mt network connection

onboard audio:
integrated pci ac'97
adi 1981a codec
soundmax 3.0 spx

webcam
a4 tech pc camera v

display adapter
intel (r) 82845g/gl/ge/pe/gv graphics controller

disk drive:
st3802110 (i guess it's hard disk, , it's 80 gb)

dvd/cd-rom:
sony cd-rw crx320ee

printer:
hp psc 1402

want know, if install ubuntu, hardware work , supported ubuntu os?
if ubuntu, won't automatically detect , install drivers network adapter, won't able connect internet. if have download drivers web, can tell me download? may download , keep copy of them in data traveler usb device.

able use webcam in messengers msn, yahoo , skype friends using windows?

have 4 partitions on disk, 3 ntfs , 1 fat32
can delete c partition, , create new 1 instead of use ubuntu?
or should delete partitions? data of partitions? , create new partitions ubuntu?

, can install ubuntu usb data traveler (kingston) ? because cd writer isn't working properly.

boot livecd , try out. way, able tell how detects hardware , installs correct drivers.

it's bad idea ask long list of questions in single post because of respond tend read thread title -- , miss details buried in post. better solution following: (1) search forum threads dealing specific make , model hardware, (2) in proper forums (i.e., networking networking, video video, etc.), if can't find anything, start thread specific problem -- again, in proper forum.

don't know what's in partitions, generally, in ms windows, "c" partitions contain os. so, if that's true on box, deleting remove possibility of dual-booting.

need 2 partitions ubuntu -- swap needs partition. 4 primary on drive, deleting 1 partition require create extended partition in it's place , create 2 linux partitions inside it.

and can install ubuntu usb data traveler (kingston) ? because cd writer isn't working properly.
yes, above, search forums on topic , find threads , tutorials installing usb drive.
