Thread: Audo, no video in multiple video playing applications

hello,

after upgrading karmic rc, cannot play videos. have universe , medibuntu repositories, tried installing restricted-extras, tried reinstalling mplayer, , gstreamer, still no luck. i've updated , upgraded.

vlc , totem play audio there no video.

in smplayer, error:

"mplayer has finished unexpectedly. exit code 127"

i did check, libx264.so.67 installed, there no file in usr/bin called "mplayer".

vlc this:

no suitable decoder module:  vlc not support audio or video format "xvid". unfortunately there no way fix this.
totem searches plugins, this:

no packages requested plugins found    requested plugins are:    xvid mpeg-4 decoder
ive tried types of video types. "requested plugin" totem changes, never found.

tips appreciated. thanks.

try installing libavcodec52... got videos working me.
