Measurement and Enabling of Comments

from messages posted, seems there 2 basic groups of users regarding measurement. users not want allow readers make measurements while others need facility. understand it, in order allow/disallow measurements 1 needs enable/disable comments. while enables measurements, has side effect of enabling comments , markups. there (or should there be) way bifurcate 2 separate functions -- 1 enables measurements (and nothing else) , current enabling of comments/markups, etc.? in our case, enable measurements, not comments.

two other related comments:
once commenting has been enabled, there not appear way reset it. enabling not allow disabling. perhaps there other mechanism unaware of.

the comments preference, not appear support enabling of comments/measurements. think users, there standard follow of documents , having preference make setting of comments (although advocate 2 preference system -- measurements , comments) easier , more standardized.

right measurement turned on reader users when commenting turned on. not other way around. commenting in reader has been possible couple of versions. measurement added functionality. measurement not persistent, comments & markups are. means if instance, doubts measurement, can attach comment , explain questioniing. once commenting set document cannot disable it. best start uniquely named document , enable 1 commenting. then, if decide no longer want enabled, can remove or destroy enabled 1 , post or distribute non-enabled one.

recipients of file have acrobat standard or pro product able comment , measure regardless of enabled setting.
