Current reading triggering alarm

hello. trying set system monitor voltage , current on lines running sensor of alarm system. have got run on set ups running problem attachment power line on 1 of alarm setups.
i putting resistor in line each of 4 wires (+8v power, + sensor, , 2 ground wires) , running them through 4051 multiplexer, , amplifying reading through ad623 , doing analogread on each wire using ohm's law current. said, works fine on setups, on 1 of them each time read + power wire alarming system. using 1 ohm resistor causes no problems being inline except when read. have tried 0.1 ohm resistor didn't make difference.
i placed high value resistor in front of input multiplexer (10m ohm) , no longer alarmed, think may have readings low measure.
honestly, i'm kind of unclear why analogread affecting circuit. perhaps big draw , triggering alarm?
