Using Sessions - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi all,

i have started using joomla , have enjoyed experience far.

the problem have encountered sessions, not able place information in session variable whilst navigating through tables, hoping might indication how go this.

i have looked @ many post , aware of using:
global $mainframe;
$mainframe->getuserstate($variable)

and

$mainframe->setuserstate($variable_name, $variable_value)

i give me example of how works , need @ loss @ moment
