Fonts from ArcMap to Illustrator

i believe issue here more microsoft or esri's handling of fonts , fontnames , realise adobe way of handling seems better @ type of thing maybe able shed light here if don't here i'll try illy forum removing faux-italic garamond bold italic once it's in illustrator. or should garamond bold italic oblique. ;)

we having issues getting correct fonts esri's arcmap. believe lot of code of arc based on microsoft code , handles font selection in microsoft office (as oposed adobe) stylebuttons bold , italic , seperate font entries light , bold. semi bold (if in font) either select light , bold button or regular , bold button.

pdf availible interested of fonts onscreen appearance in arcmap (screenshots) , in illustrator after after export ai arcmap. font windows (screenshots) these fonts in both applications shown.

if open fresh instance of illustrator typeface appear correctly on screen , in font window.

if open fonttest.ai (an old version of ai8 believe) generated arcmap each font of typeface appears on separate line in font chooser weight (and italic if italic) in both typeface (top) , font (bottom) panel of illustrator font window.

if close document , create new illustrator document fonts still viewing incorrectly above in illustrator font window.

if close , open new instance of illustrator fonts normal.

now interesting bit. if save file fonttest.ai cs3 version , open in our fresh instance of illustrator fonts how should be. problem fixed except faux-italic on bold italic still applied.

i decided test in openoffice caused more (worse) problems. test in word when work.
