Thread: Partition Advice Please

i getting ready fresh install of 9.1 , looking little advice. system has 2 hds, 1 os , other use backing files , storing downloaded images , music. day day use seldom mount drive.

since 8.1 have been reading having separate home partition, , curious if advantage, or more work necessary. not want use second hard drive other backup storage device. of links have found discuss creating separate home directory after ubuntu installed.

given regulary important files storage drive still suggest creating separate home directory partition on os drive , if so, have link guide on how @ time of installation?

i've created seperate /home partition before (still installed on hard drive), , no real difference.

i'd install on 1 partition, way don't have worry having resize partitions if 1 of partitions runs out of space.

think /home more useful if plan on upgrading ubuntu , / directory wiped, keep /home intact. if format/fresh install (recommended), keep on 1 partition. since have 1 terabyte drive can copy/paste important files when regularly install new ubuntu version.
