Does IDE work with Microsoft 8.1

i installed arduino ide software windows 7 on windows 8.1 laptop because there not software windows 8.1. not able update drivers says manually in instructions booklet (i have arduino starter kit) went automatic update. cause sort of side effect?

which version of ide did download?  version 1.0.6 or version 1.5.8 beta?

i run both of them on windows 8.1 ok.  what problems when run ide?
