Character count from Acrobat

hi all,

using acrobat 8 professional version. using various application generate pdf. clients need number of characters in document. of applications support collect character count, of not. final output applications is/are "pdf". got approval client collect character count "pdf" document. find in "acrobat 8 professional menu" this. cant able find that. there way character count through pdf? please me.

pdf not suitable format counting characters, if must use best approach write script goes on words in pages , adds characters in each word. need familiar javascript , don't expect results accurate.
