Thread: Windows 7 upgrade assistance please

hello.
have vista , ubuntu dual boot on gateway notebook.

if booted vista , after attempt upgrade windows 7 computer posts message ntfs partition not windows ntfs. insists on clean windows 7 install.

ubuntu , operational settings.
not vista @ need direct windows compatibility. not believe clean install should necessary - want replace vista windows 7 on vista partition.

searched forums , found nothing seemed quite applicable again if necessary. know how backup , restore ubuntu , can use fdisk.

process remove vista , install windows 7 ubuntu?-> backup ubuntu external, reformat ubuntu partion ntfs, upgrade windows 7, re-partition, re-install, , restore ubuntu?

if not work, please describe easiest successful process replace vista windows 7 , leave ubuntu alone?

we don't provide support w7 here, in case, seems rather obvious. install w7 using ntfs partition.
