are there users use adobe 3d xvl/xv3? there need xvl?
can adobe 3d, on own, perform needed conversions/ip
reductions?

we use acrobat 3d , tested lattice3d studio.acrobat toolkit can read older version of xvl, talked righthemisphere people (they delivered technology acrobat 3d toolkit) it, xvl version toolkit can read 3.0 (if remember correctly) , actual release of lattice3d 6.5(?). if i'm right, cannot save xvl version 3.0 actual lattice studio, import module xvl pretty useless.
the xvl technology is, on other side, impressing! dessault licensed catia 3dxml format, easy conversion between xvl , 3dxml should possible, @ now, knowledge, there no such tool.
acrobat 3d 8.0 based (partially) on new technology french company ttf group, aquired adobe last year. use projectreviewer ttf importing catia assemblies , delivers excellent results, i'm convinced release8 of a3d offer greater value 7.0. able read 3dxml, not know if xvl well.
acrobat 3d 8.0 use new .prc format 3d data (beside .u3d) developed ttf , delivers compression ration of 100 or more. best is: compressed geometry based on mathematical faces , not tesselated! couldn't find out if there relationship between .prc , xvl/3dxml.

peter
