Detect if door is opened or closed

hi,

i'd use arduino track state of garage door (opened or closed). i'm wondering type of sensor(s) should use. i'd able query device determine door state.

at 1 point thought read using magnates (one 1 device , 1 on door rail) can't find again.

suggestions appreciated!

magnet , reed switch work.  or magnet , hall effect transistor.  or plain old fashioned microswitch.  optical slot detector , tiny flag.


soooo many ways.
