lack AC detect

hi all.. need create simple alarm detect if ac current on or off...
to make sure our fridge on, other wise 5v or 12v alarm turn ooon....

what best approach start simple , project??

i use eagle , no arduino on case, expensive left alone 8)

the simplest way use relay ac coil (120vac or 240vac depending on live).

a relay provide isolation between high voltage , low voltage keep safe.   (relays more-often used "the other way around", 5v or 12v can control ac, make relays 120 & 240vac coils.)
