how to make an hardware switch

hello, i'm still beginner in arduino , electronics.  :smiley-small:

i power arduino 12v, 15w, 1.25a.

i know how make hardware switch (3 positions) manually push in order have 3 functioning mode in arduino program. possible? electronic component suggest it? , how wiring between switch , arduino?
