Question about archives - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi:

i have ijoomla magazine site , running. have several sections 1 day started showing me archives in submenu. don't recall explicity setting up. added content 1 day same section , category, , (i'm pretty sure) started noticing archive submenu link showing up. thought interesting "automatic" thing , didn't question it, not understanding it.

i handed site off owner started adding content. now, here mystery: 2 of 3 sections had archive submenu showing when handed off no longer show submenu. however, went in article manager , saw each of 3 categories had same 4 articles in each category had left client with. content in sections has not changed. of archive pages set "blog" format, yet 2 of them don't show anymore.

all of categories, if click "next" @ bottom of current articles, take next oldest content should.

it appears same 3 distinct sections , categories, yet 1 has active submenu, , 3 have content publised , accessible , apparently set same way. can't find difference between working "archive" submenu , non working one.

btw, i'm not using "archive manager" or that. content published , available in of 3 sections / categories.

...and working archive link "d'var torah" , non working ones use work "simchas" , "obituaries".

i add in closing since added second article each of categories mentioned above, had been seeing "archive" submenu on left news menu.
