Thread: 9.10 installer wrote grub2 to the wrong drive!

my 9.10 amd64 install wrote grub2 wrong drive! able boot changing bios boot order make sata drive boot first loaded grub2 , gave me boot menu, installed first ide drive , want/need first bios boot device because ide carrier , swap in various systems testing. drives hdb, dvd burner, , sata drive have data need.

how install grub2 /dev/hda?

--wally.

once booted solution run "sudo update-grub /dev/sdb"

fail see why, , don't fact first ide drive mapped /dev/sdb way is. think new drive mapping scheme cause lots of broken systems when multiple drive types involved!

lots of useful grub2 info here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/grub2

under "improvements" grub2, can is: "so what, cares?", unless perhaps have powerpc or other non-x86 system. hassles see installations not booting worth having 1 boot loader multiple architectures , boot eye-candy potential? default boot if uglier grub eyes, looks @ bootup anyways, unless not working??

--wally.
