LEDs losig brithness at a different rate, am I damaging them somehow?
hello,
i had built word clock girlfriend christmas present. has been on couple weeks, noticing wear of leds not uniform. of course expect uneven wear on time, after 3 weeks think should not able see difference.
here imgur album of clock in question (with pictures of circuit too):

the phrase @ top "klukkan er" (the time is) half bright other words. word "minutur" on time, off 10 minutes of every hour.
all words connected shift registers , transistor arrays, don't turn on when clock plugged in. however, "klukkan er" tried directly 5v , gnd (with 220ohm resistor attached each led). have couple of decoupling capacitors on board power comes in, hoping prevent such thing. have damaged these leds since connected directly power supply?
does have idea why might happening? there missing? possibly more information can provide with?

well, have 1 resistor per led can't think of reason there being problem...
