DMD controlled over USB

hello,
  work in large warehouse supplies medical products. i'm starting project create display boss allow him more communicate workers in warehouse.

  ultimate goal have dmd @ least 16x32 in size, possibly bigger depending on how money company wants spend, connected arduino nano , controlled boss' computer via usb cable.

  parts plan on using are:
1)an arduino nano http://arduino.cc/en/main/arduinoboardnano
2)a 16x32 dmd similar http://www.freetronics.com.au/collections/display/products/dot-matrix-display-32x16-red#.vloxdp_nbqa
3)a 5 volt power supply

  anticipate being large , complex project think helpful break different sections when asking , answering questions:
1)communication between arduino , computer.
2)communication between arduino , dmd
3)powering dmd
4)the dmd
5)other

that having been said, think?

what distances involved? doubt you'll able rely on usb office warehouse.
