Thread: Problem Booting Windows after Routine Ubuntu Upgrade
where did come from? last thing of importance routine ubuntu upgrade. perhaps wasn't particularly routine because took considerable amount of time. worked ok , 'puter deemed 'up-to-date'
problem lies in trying boot windows routine fails! have win98 dual booting 9.04 on 2 hard disks. keep win98 because thing runs accounting program suits me , small business.
grub seems work , when boot win98 start-up logo hangs message "file allocation table bad, drive c"
has upgrade upset things or has win98 died? suggestions?
it sounds either grub didn't update menu.lst properly, or win98 hosed...
try (just rule out) disconnect hard drive has ubuntu/grub on it. have win98 hdd plugged in, , adjust boot order boots device first. see happens. if boots ok, there's wrong grub entry win98. if doesn't, know fact it's win98.
